NCR flat buyers unite to fight delayed deliveries

To give impetus to the ongoing struggle to gain ownership of their apartments, homebuyers in Noida, Greater Noida and Gurgaon have joined hands in floating a unified banner called the NCR Flat Buyers Association. The association is going to push the buyers’ agenda with all the government bodies and the builders to speed up the delivery of the flats, most of which have surpassed committed deadlines.

“Most of us are paying an EMI on home loan as well as rent. Various associations have been protesting individually based on the location of their apartments or against a particular builder, but we have now unified to create a larger voice so that we are heard by the decision makers of the country,” Chandresh Kumar, a member of the association, said.

While the membership has just been opened to all flat buyers in NCR, the group expects to find enrolment in lakhs. “On November 1, we are hosting a mass rally in Noida which will culminate in the Film City. Now we need to know when we can finally own our apartments,” Markandey Mishra, one of the members, said.

“While getting the delivery of their flats is of prime importance, there are issues related to the quality of material being used, the floor area ratio, the extra payments that the builders are asking for at the time of handover, and the approvals that the builders need from various bodies. We are looking forward to creating a strong lobby to get all the flat buyers in NCR on board,” Indrish Gupta, a member of this new association who is also a co-founder of the Noida Extension Flat Owners Association, said.
