MCG clears Rs 20 crore infrastructure projects

Hours before the Election Commission announced dates for the forthcoming election in Haryana, the finance and contract committee headed by the mayor cleared development projects worth over Rs 20 crore on September 12.

According to the mayor, Vimal Yadav, most of this amount will be spent on constructing bus queue shelters, community centres, roads, sewer lines and water lines in various parts of the city.

“We have already allotted tenders for 26 projects. The works include constructing two slip roads near Atul Kataria Chowk and eight bus queue shelters. The chowk witnesses a lot of traffic as this route is frequently used to reach the old city these slip roads are made, it will ease the traffic to a great extent,” said Yadav.

Yadav said that while there were adequate buses there were not enough bus queue shelters. Hence, the MCG has identified some locations, especially on the old Delhi-Gurgaon road where there are hardly any shelters.
