DDA housing scheme 2014: 10 facts you need to know

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Friday announced its biggest housing scheme, offering over 25,000 flats across various categories while scrapping the proposed plan to reserve 80 percent flats for the city-dwellers in it.

The much- awaited new 'Housing Scheme 2014' offers flats ranging from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 1.2 crore across categories, viz - EWS, LIG, MIG, HIG, Janta flats and one-room apartments.

-The registration for these flats would be open to applicants from September 1 and the last date to receive the application is October 9.

-The draw of lots would preferably be taken out within 20 days of the close of the scheme.

-The DDA has introduced a new clause in which a buyer will not be able to sell his flat for the next five years after possession.

-The registration fee for general category flats will Rs 1 lakh, while it will be Rs 10,000 for the EWS (Economically Weaker Section) category.

-A ceiling of Rs 1 lakh of annual income has been prescribed for those applying under the EWS category.

-Of the 25,034 flats, 22,627 will be one-bed room apartments. A total 896 flats are newly-built flats out which 512 are for middle income group. Of these, 700 flats will be reserved for people belonging to economically weaker section (EWS).

-The price for middle income group flats will range between Rs 41.30 lakh and Rs 69.90 lakh, while one-bedroom flats will cost around Rs 10 lakh. For higher income group flats, the cost will be over 1 crore, while it will be Rs.10,000 for EWS flats which will cost between Rs.7 lakh to Rs.11 lakh.

-For the first time, DDA has also decided to do away with attachments along with the application forms and now only a photocopy of PAN card would be needed for the process.

-There is no income limits on one-bedroom apartments and any eligible candidate can apply. For EWS category, there will also be an option to pay the cost of the flats in instalments

-One person can submit one application only. Both husband and wife can apply for flats subject to fulfilment of eligibility conditions with a stipulation that if both are found to be successful, only one of them shall retain the allotment of a flat.
