DDA flats in Rohini may be delayed

DDA may not be able to deliver on its promise of providing all houses in Rohini by March next year. Allottees may have to wait for some time before getting their houses, because of a local agitation that has prevented DDA from carrying out construction in full swing.

Despite the apex court removing the stay on DDA’s construction, locals at Barwala village have stalled DDA’s repeated attempts to finish the work. More than 18,000 plots that were allotted by DDA in 2012 are behind their schedule.

Senior DDA officials say they have approached the police seking protection to finish off the project. “In the last two months, we have written to the police department twice. We are now looking forward to holding a meeting with the chairperson of the authority,” said a senior DDA official.
