NCR flat-buyers push for realty bill this session

Around 200 flat buyers of Noida, Gurgaon, Faridabad and Ghaziabad staged demonstrations at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on December 7, demanding that real estate (regulation and development) bill, 2013, be picked up during the winter session of Parliament.

“Why are there are no laws for builders? Why are politicians silent over the real estate mess?” asked Raman Sharma, president of Progressive Gurgaon Forum. Alok Kumar, president of Ghaziabad Apartment Owners Association, said, “The bill needs to be buyer-oriented and should protect their interest.”

The demand for such a bill follows months of hardships faced by some homebuyers, after unprofessional and unorganized developers failed to fulfill their commitments for delivery in time and quality of product. Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association general secretary, Shweta Bharti, said, “On Monday, we will hand over a memorandum to the PMO and the office of the minister for urban development, M Venkaiah Naidu, in which we will also propose changes in the bill.”
