What is an ideal retirement destination?

Almost each one of us save, plan and look for a perfect place to retire. An ideal destination differs from person to person as everyone seeks a place that matches their respective needs. While some look to retire in the place they grew up in, others want to move to a metro city to live in a better developed area. Then there are those who have lived their whole life in the same city and want to continue doing so, while some look for a completely new city when it comes to retirement, irrespective of where they were brought up or where they are working.

Check out properties that suit you requirements!

In order to understand the expectations of people on where they plan to retire, a survey was recently conducted by Magicbricks. Some findings of the survey were really interesting. Take a look!

In response to “What is an ideal retirement destination,” maximum respondents, about 51 per cent, said they would like to retire in a place that offers an optimum mix of both development and peaceful environment irrespective of where they were brought up or where they are working.

While the government is planning 100 Smart Cities across India, it seems people are yet to catch up with the benefits of living in a Smart City. Only 18 per cent of the respondents replied that they would choose a Smart City for retirement.

A city completely developed with respect to infrastructure, job opportunities and liveability got almost 16 per cent preference. About 13 per cent preferred a developing city, away from the hustle bustle of the metro city, and which would provide a calm and peaceful environment. Such people were ready to compromise on development.

Out of the total number of respondents, about 68 per cent currently reside in the city where they are employed, while 32 per cent reside in their home town. Interestingly, out of those residing in the city where they are currently employed, 40 per cent want to stay back, while 34 per cent want to go back to their home town. About 25 per cent were looking towards another city.

About 42 per cent of the respondents were aged above 45 years while 21 per cent were between 35-45 years of age. People within the age bracket of 25-35 years were 30 per cent, while remaining were below 25 years.
