More counters for DDA allottees

DDA has decided to open more counters and depute more staff to process the paperwork of thousands of successful allottees turning up at its headquarters to claim their flats.

Senior officials have said that after receiving several complaints from allottees who spent hours awaiting their turn only to see the offices close, they will now have four counters open, even on Saturdays.

"While some people complained of not being able to reach the counters, which close at 5, others simply left seeing the long queues. We have opened new counters, which will operate on all days except on Sundays and public holidays," said a senior official. DDA has also extended the time for verification of documents, pushing the last date for payments to May, after which interest will be charged.

For those who pay early, DDA will start providing flats from February 1. Senior officials say they have prepared all flats, except for those in Rohini and Sirsapur. Those who received flats in these two areas may have to wait until March for possession.
