DDA lucky allottees proud of owning a home in Delhi

When the results for 2500 flats in Delhi were announced by DDA on Tuesday, the allottees could not believe their luck. Their dream of owning a home in the national capital finally came true. Magicbricks spoke to some of them to know their feelings.

‘I can proudly say that we own property now’

When he applied in the DDA Housing for the first time, Vikas Kumar, a professional working in Noida, had no hope of winning. He is currently living on rent with his parents and never thought the application form filled in his mother’s name will make him win a flat in his very first attempt. Let’s read on to know his plans -

Tell us about the property you have won?

I have won a 1BHK LIG flat in Kondali. Though, I am not sure about the exact size, but it would be anywhere between 31.34 to 73.97 sq m. These flats cost within the price range of Rs 15-27 lakh. The authority has promised to give possession by December 2014. These are newly built ready apartments at the finishing stages.

Is it the first time you have applied in a DDA scheme?

Yes! It was the first time and I had applied in my mother’s name. We have been living on rent for a while now. We wanted to own a property for long now. It was the only flat we have applied for and never thought we well be fortunate to win in our very first attempt. My mother is lucky for me.

What pushed you to apply in the DDA scheme?

I was not very positive about the scheme, but my colleagues urged me to fill the form. There are a few who had won in the past, which also pushed me to invest in the DDA scheme.

Will you use the property or hold it and sell it later?

I have not seen the area. If the area is good for living in terms of connectivity and social infrastructure, we will definitely shift there. Otherwise, we will plan to sell it and invest somewhere else.

“Will keep the property for rental returns”

Tell us about the property that you have won?

I have won a 1BHK, LIG flat in Rohini Sector 34. The size of the apartment is 33.85 sq m and it would cost me about Rs 15.5 lakh.

When will you get possession?

This time, maximum of the DDA flats are ready to occupy. These are newly built ready apartments at the finishing stages. The authority has promised to give possession as soon as we make the payment.

Did only you in your family apply?

I had applied for two flats, one was in my name and the other was in my wife’s name. My wife got lucky this time.

Will you use the property or hold it and sell it later?

No, we will neither use it nor sell it. We have our own property in Patel Nagar, where we are currently living. Also, it will take me long – 2 hours – to reach my office in Noida. The area will also take some time to be fully developed, especially in terms of social infrastructure. Thus, we are thinking of giving it on rent and earn rental returns.

Was Rohini, Sector 34 your preferred choice?

Though we both opted for three choices – Rohini Sectors 18 and 34 and Paschim Vihar, our first choice was Rohini Sector 34. This was because we are well aware of the area and it is easily accessible from where we are currently living.
